Affected Users
This notice affects all VIPM 2025.3 users who build packages containing Support Files such as:
- Shared Libraries (.dll, .so, .framework)
- Packed Project Libraries (PPLs) (.lvlibp)
- Other non-LabVIEW file types
Issue Description
VIPM 2025.3 introduces a preview feature that fixes issues related to the "Place folder contents in destination" setting in VIPM Package Builder. Unfortunately, this fix has had the unintended consequence of relocating shared libraries and other critical files, potentially breaking package functionality and dependencies.
Immediate Workaround
If you are experiencing issues with file placement in your built packages, please apply this manual fix:
- Open VIPM 2025.3
- Navigate to Options Preview Features
- Uncheck the option: "[Bug Fix] Place Folder Contents for Non-LabVIEW Files"
- Click OK to save your changes (no restart required)
- Rebuild your packages
This will restore the previous file placement behavior and ensure your shared libraries remain in their expected locations.
Upcoming Fix
We are actively working on a patch release that will disable this preview feature by default. We are also implementing strategies to prevent this from happening again.
Recommendations
Before building new packages:
- Apply the workaround described above
- For packages already built with 2025.3: Rebuild after applying the workaround
- Testing: Verify package installations include all files in expected locations
We apologize for the inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this issue.
